When going to put in a new ceiling fan or even if replacing an existing one there is a decision to make. That decision is whether or not the new item will have a light fixture attached to it. Make sure that the instructions that are enclosed with attaching the light kit are followed. Also, make sure you wire so as to have the fan come on with the pull string or with the switch.

Each house is wired a little differently. Some houses have breakers while others are powered by fuses. In either case you should familiarize yourself with what you have so as to be prepared if something does happen. In the case of a fuse box, you should have spare fuses on hand in order to replace them as they go.

Each appliance that we own is different and needs to be maintained. Periodically check the cords and attachments on all appliances for wear and tear. If there is any damage to the cord it should be replaced and not repaired. The repairing makes the cord less safe and not as good of a conductor which could lead to electrical shorts.
